It takes a village to power the Marching Band, and our volunteers are the driving force behind every incredible performance, game night, and competition! Volunteering is the single best way to get involved, meet wonderful band families, and support our students up close.

Important Volunteer Requirements
- Family Commitment: Each family unit of a band/guard member MUST cover at least FOUR (4) shifts throughout the regular season. THANK YOU for helping make this the best season yet!
- Volunteer Background Check: The safety of our students is our top priority. All adult volunteers are required to complete a GCISD Volunteer Background Authorization Form each school year before helping out.
- SignUpGenius Tracking: Shifts completed through SignUpGenius count directly toward your required hours and are tracked automatically. When signing up, please be sure to include your child's name and instrument/section so your shifts are credited correctly.
Volunteer Roles
Concessions Crew
- Overview: Our football game concession stands are the #1 fundraiser for the band, and we need YOUR help to keep this critical revenue flowing! Every dollar earned supports our band students. It is a fast-paced, high-energy way to meet other parents.
- Varsity Football Game Concessions (HOME Games Only; Adults & Students in Middle School or Older): Help serve food and drinks under the stadium lights at Mustang Panther Stadium in the North and South Concession Stands. Roles include food prep, cashier, drink operator, runner, inventory restock, and cleaning crew.
- JV/Freshman Football Concessions (CHHS Field; Thursdays; Adults & Students in Middle School or Older): Assist with concessions in a more low-key environment with a limited menu on campus at the practice field and track.
- Important Notes for Concession Volunteers:
- Free Game Entrance: Free game entrance is included upon request for Varsity Game concession volunteers. You must follow the instructions in the email sent by the Volunteer Coordinator the day before the game to access your ticket.
- Dress Code: Concession volunteers (Varsity and JV/Freshman) must wear closed-toe shoes and keep hair pulled up or wear a hat.
- Under 18 / Middle School Students: Volunteers under 18 are welcome but are restricted to age-appropriate tasks like restocking, serving cold drinks, or fetching wrapped food. Middle school students are restricted from handling hot food or food prep.
- Overview: Help load and unload equipment trucks and move gear, instruments, and props on and off the field for games, stadium rehearsals, and competitions.
- Requirements: Volunteers must be able to lift, pull, push, and stand for long periods. All band parents are welcome, not just percussion parents.
- Special Need This Season: 30 people are needed for Prop Crew before and after some games and all contests! The tarps for the performance are huge and need many hands to move them quickly. It is an easy volunteer task where you get to see the performance up close.
- Truck Drivers: Must receive training and approval from GCISD. Contact Road Crew Lead John Parker to complete training.
- Overview: Ride the buses and support students and directors during games and competitions.
- Schedule: Chaperones meet at the school at EPL (eat, pack, load) time, which is typically 4:00 PM for home games and earlier for away games (contest times vary).
- Section Specifics: Color Guard Diamonds and Percussion Chaperones must have a child in that respective group.
- Overview: Coordinate, serve, and clean up meals before competitions in the CHHS Panther Den (cafeteria) and/or onsite to keep our students fueled and focused.
- Overview: Using personal photography equipment, take photos to capture the team at games and contests. Option to ride the bus or travel on your own.
- Overview: Assist with uniform fittings, handle laundry duties between performances, perform basic mending/sewing, and help organize and redistribute clean uniforms so every student takes the field looking their best.

Volunteer Hours Log (For Non-SignUpGenius Activities Only)
Please note: If you completed a volunteer activity that you signed up for directly through SignUpGenius, there is no need to log your hours here. Your time is automatically counted toward your family's requirement as long as your child's name and instrument are listed on your sign-up.
This form is only for logging volunteer time completed outside of standard SignUpGenius shifts. For example: board members or committee leads putting in weekly hours for roles like treasury reports, ordering accessories, inventory, or administrative planning.
