Christine Cleary - Flute Teacher

Christine Cleary has been teaching private flute lessons in Texas since 1997.  She has a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in flute performance from Kent State University and Ohio University. She is a past president of the Texas Flute Society and was the Flute clubs coordinator for the National Flute Association for five years. Christine is married to saxophone teacher, Mark Dooly, and they have two children and two little dogs. In her spare time she enjoys Yoga and running marathons and even completed the Great Wall of China marathon!  ​

Janis Grannell - Flute Teacher 

Janis Grannell was born in Memphis, Tennessee where she received her first musical training in the form of piano lessons.  The family moved to North Platte, Nebraska when she was eight and she finished her high school education there.  She started to play flute in fifth grade.  High school awards earned were principal flute two years in the Hastings Select Honor Band, two years in the Nebraska All-State Band, the John Philip Sousa Band Award, the National Orchestra Award, and the Paderewski Gold Medal for receiving a superior rating for ten years in piano Guild.

Her college years were spent at Texas Christian University as a Nordan Scholarship recipient, where she studied flute under Dr. Ralph Guenther and piano with Keith Mixson.  She played with the T.C.U. Symphony Orchestra and was selected twice (eligible every other year) as Honors performer in the concerto competition.  She also played in the T.C.U. Woodwind Quintet, coached by Noah Knepper.  While at T.C.U., she presented five full flute recitals and several chamber recitals.  She graduated Magna Cum Laude, was elected Mu Phi Epsilon president, was tapped for Mortar Board, was the senior scholar in music, and was awarded a Performer’s Certificate. 

Graduate studies continued at the University of Georgia where she received a teaching assistantship, studying flute with Dr. Ron Waln.  She was elected to Phi Kappa Phi, Pi Kappa Lambda and graduated with a 4.0.  She was soloist with the University of Georgia Symphony and was a member of the Honors Woodwind Quintet.  She played as soloist with the Atlanta Symphony when they were in residency for three days at the University. Post-graduate studies include many master classes and recitals.  Janis has performed at classes with William Bennett, Karl Kraber, Louis Moyse, Trevor Wye, Geoffrey Gilbert, Jean-Pierre Rampal, and Murray Panitz, and studied flute for many years with Dr. George Morey, retired University of North Texas professor.
Janis taught adjunct at Texas Christian University, and seventeen years at the University of Texas at Arlington, where she taught flute, coached ensembles, and taught two courses. Her flute choir once played for the CBS Morning Show out of New York.  Her students have gone on to achieve successful graduate studies and good teaching positions.  She now teaches middle and high school students and has had many All-Region and All-State players. Janis performed for many years with Michael Reed at the Worthington Hotel in Fort Worth and does free-lance work throughout the metroplex.  She played with the now defunct Texas Wind Symphony and is active as a clinician and adjudicator. 

She balances her musical life with family, raising one daughter with her husband, Stephen.

Jason Bohls - Trombone Teacher

​Jason Bohls is a professional performer and private teacher/coach of bass trombone and tenor trombone in the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex. He is teaching in Grapvine-Colleyville ISD at Colleyville Heritage High School, and Grapevine Middle School, along with teaching in a few of the surrounding districts. Jason has studied at Temple University in Philadelphia, PA and Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX. Jason has studied with Steve Norrell - Manhattan School of Music, Metropolitan Opera; James T. Decker - Texas Tech University, Lubbock Symphony Orchestra, Honolulu Symphony Orchestra; John Kitzman - Southern Methodist University, Dallas Symphony Orchestra; Blair Bollinger - Temple University, Curtis Institute of Music, Bass Trombone Philadelphia Orchestra; Nitzan Haroz - Temple University, Curtis Institute of Music, Principal Trombone Philadelphia Orchestra, Matthew Vaughan - Temple University, Curtis Institute of Music, Co-Principal Trombone Philadelphia Orchestra; Eric Carlson - Temple University, Second Trombone Philadelphia Orchestra; Adam Unsworth - Temple University, Fourth Horn Philadelphia Orchestra; David Waters - Rice University, Bass Trombone Houston Symphony; Donald Knaub - University of Texas, Bass Trombone Austin Symphony; Jon Bohls - Lewisville Lake Symphony, Freelance Musician, Private Teacher.
 
He has played with the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra, Midland-Odessa Symphony & Chorale, Curtis Institute of Music Orchestra, and the Starlight Orchestra Big Band and Kahuna Tunas Street Band at Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, PA. Jason is on faculty for The Festival of Trombones, hosted in Coppell, TX, a member of the International Trombone Association, and lives in Coppell, TX with his two puppies, Jethro and Duke.

Randy Graham - Trumpet Teacher

​Randy Graham (trumpet) has been teaching trumpet lessons privately for 28 years, the last 17 of those years have been in GCISD. He received a bachelor’s degree in Music Education from WTAMU and attended UNT graduate school to focus on Jazz Studies. Mr. Graham currently performs in many groups in the DFW from classical to jazz as well as easy listening to the hardest of rock. He has been involved in the DFW live music scene for over 28 years. He is also a vocalist (but don't tell anybody) and can be heard on 12 CD's. Mr. Graham has also performed with many famous people such as Harry Connick, Jr. and Elvira, just to name a couple. He has been married for 29 years and his hobbies include Harleys, hot-rods, biking, yoga and bowling (220avg). Mr. Graham is excited to continue to teach in GCISD and help the music program grow with great trumpet players!

Martin Godoy - Flute Teacher

Mr. Godoy holds a Bachelor of Music (Education) and Master of Music in Flute Performance from UT Arlington and is currently pursuing his Doctor of Musical Arts at the University of North Texas. He has competed at the National Flute Association Young Artist competition and in the Ernest Bloch International Music Competition and subs for the Dallas Winds. 

Pat Walsh - Saxophone Teacher

Pat Walsh is a multi-instrumentalist and music professional that specializes in the Saxophone and Darbuka.  As a Texas native raised on a small farm in the Hill Country of Texas, Pat grew up in a musical family. He began his musical training at 8 years of age with the piano and so started a lifelong affair with music and learning new instruments.  

Now, Pat helps others learn by sharing his passion.  Pat teaches classical and jazz saxophone privately in the Dallas - Fort Worth area at many different Middle and High School Band programs.  He also is an instructor for one of the biggest Middle Eastern Drum troupe in the United States, The Drums of Isis Academy. There he instructs and accompanies the Isis World Dance Studio on Darbuka, Riq, and Egyptian Ney.  

You can find Pat Walsh performing all over the DFW area with many different Swing, Jazz, and Middle Eastern groups.  Performing as a stage and studio musician he has been able to share the stage with artists such as Iranian pop star Shadmehr Aghili, hafla wizard Carmine Guida, master percussionist Faisal Zedan, jazz great Ron Wilkins, drummer virtuoso Dave Weykl, and singer/ songwriter Mancel Bolton. Pat Walsh studied music and jazz performance at Temple College and The University of North Texas.

Michael Patterson - Clarinet & Saxophone teacher

Michael Patterson is a graduate of Hardin Simmons University (BM, MM). He has taught as a private music instructor in the Grapevine-Colleyville ISD and various parts of northeast Fort Worth for the past 20 years. He has performed with the Plano Symphony, East Texas Symphony, Texas Winds Musical Outreach chamber groups, Casa Manana Orchestra, Abilene Opera Orchestra, Abilene Philharmonic, and Wichita Falls Symphony. He has also toured and recorded with the AETC Air Force Band. Some of the performers that he has performed with are trumpeter Doc Severinsen, singer/songwriter Paul Williams, Van Cliburn gold medalist Jose Feghali, saxophonist Eugene Rousseau, guitarist Pepe Romero, and Cirque du Soleil. He has studied with Dr. Raphael Sanders, Daryl Coad, Andy Crisanti, Elsa Ludwig Verdehr, Martha Boggs and Dr. J. Eric Wilson. 

Tony Luna - Percussion Teacher

Tony Luna is a percussion specialist originating from the Dallas/ Fort Worth Area. He has been teaching private lessons and serving as a battery coordinator/ technician all over the metroplex since 2013.

Mr. Luna is a Richland High School alumni class of 2012 and went on to march DCI open class with the Genesis Drum and Bugle Corps in 2013. Then based out of the Rio Grande Valley and now out of Austin, TX, he was member during the year that achieved the groups highest placement earning their first bronze medal in open class.

Since his time performing as percussionist, he has been a part of many performing groups/ drumlines in the area such as the Dallas Mavericks, the Dallas Cowboys, FC Dallas, Dynamic Rhythm Entertainment, and the Cutting Edge Haunted House.

Although focusing primarily on drumline and percussion ensemble development, he is also sound in the drumset/ world percussion realm of drumming. He is heavily involved in the Dallas/ Fort Worth music scene performing with different groups/ combos in the styles of Latin, Funk, Jazz, County and Rock. He has been very fortunate to use his background in percussion to perform around the country as a touring musician and educator.

Mr. Luna is currently serving as an Assistant Percussion Instructor/ Battery Coordinator for the Colleyville Heritage Panther Band and is thrilled to be working alongside a great team of educators.
